I read this book, when I was in middle school。 I read it again as an adult。 I think it is interesting that this book was written by a teenager。 It had real world issues in this book。 The big thematic message involved stereotyping and prejudice based on socioeconomic status。 I think people can relate to what is in this book。 Many people have been judged by what their socioeconomic status is。

Why was I never required to read this in high school?? I think this would have been a lot more meaningful than a lot of the other books required!I loved that this encouraged empathy for people who are different than you and that this book was written by a 15 year old。 Both things would inspire and empower teenagers everywhere。

Every kid should read this。

The outsiders was a book that made me want to do something。 Be it write, be it yell, be it watch the sunset。 And it was a long ago since a book made me feel this way。 Like, somehow I want to change the world or like somehow I want to be and feel special。 I don't know exactly why。 Hm, I'll tell you the truth when I say I wasn't expecting to like this book, even less to love it, I really wasn't。 I don't usually got well with classics ish。 I'm so glad I did love it though。 Ponyboy in someway, thoug The outsiders was a book that made me want to do something。 Be it write, be it yell, be it watch the sunset。 And it was a long ago since a book made me feel this way。 Like, somehow I want to change the world or like somehow I want to be and feel special。 I don't know exactly why。 Hm, I'll tell you the truth when I say I wasn't expecting to like this book, even less to love it, I really wasn't。 I don't usually got well with classics ish。 I'm so glad I did love it though。 Ponyboy in someway, though having an entirely different life of mine, represented my thoughts so well I was shocked he wasn't myself。 It's kind of hard for me to see myself in a book closely as it happened this time。 Maybe it's the author writing it as a teenager or maybe some thoughts are universal but I'll say I'll hold this book dearly in my heart for now long。 。。。more

I loved this book! when I finished reading it I got so sad。 I really enjoyed how you put a twist on the ending making Ponyboy the narrator the whole time。 Surprisingly this book was my favorite。 Normally I like books I can relate to, Although I couldn't relate to this one I enjoyed it because of the emotional roller coaster it took me on。 I loved this book! when I finished reading it I got so sad。 I really enjoyed how you put a twist on the ending making Ponyboy the narrator the whole time。 Surprisingly this book was my favorite。 Normally I like books I can relate to, Although I couldn't relate to this one I enjoyed it because of the emotional roller coaster it took me on。 。。。more

I’ve loved this story for years, but I never read it on my own。 I was introduced through the 80’s film with Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, and all of 80’s heart-throbs。 I loved the story then, but I love it even more now。Hinton’s ability to show such real and raw emotions and relationships takes my breath away。I related to Ponyboy。 I wept for Johnny。 I admired Darry。 I became a little smitten with Sodapop。 And I grew to love Dallas, just like Ponyboy did。I rarely give a book 5 stars, but this story dese I’ve loved this story for years, but I never read it on my own。 I was introduced through the 80’s film with Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, and all of 80’s heart-throbs。 I loved the story then, but I love it even more now。Hinton’s ability to show such real and raw emotions and relationships takes my breath away。I related to Ponyboy。 I wept for Johnny。 I admired Darry。 I became a little smitten with Sodapop。 And I grew to love Dallas, just like Ponyboy did。I rarely give a book 5 stars, but this story deserves every single one。 It’s rare to find a story as moving as this。⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 。。。more

This was so much better then people ought it to be。It really does live up to expectations。 I love how it shows how other poems/books impact the characters lives, such as Ponyboy。 The book gives you good details about the gang, and as Ponyboy's narrative mind, you are able to understand so much。 This was so much better then people ought it to be。It really does live up to expectations。 I love how it shows how other poems/books impact the characters lives, such as Ponyboy。 The book gives you good details about the gang, and as Ponyboy's narrative mind, you are able to understand so much。 。。。more

Holy shit。 This book is officially my favourite book。 I loved every single thing that happened。 I still can’t get over that fact that it made me feel all sorts of things。 It’s the type of book that makes you feel like you are in there with them。Also I don’t know how to explain, but I was very attached to the characters 😭

The Outsiders is a great book that showed a lot of detail of what it was like being poor in the 60's。 It showed the discrimination between the lower class and higher class, it shows the distinct difference of treatment between the Soc's and Greasers。 The Outsiders is about a poor group of friends who are classed as a gang of greasers that are in a rivalry with the Soc's。 Ponyboy, The main character and narrator of the story goes from an innocent and smart kid who kept his grades and had good beh The Outsiders is a great book that showed a lot of detail of what it was like being poor in the 60's。 It showed the discrimination between the lower class and higher class, it shows the distinct difference of treatment between the Soc's and Greasers。 The Outsiders is about a poor group of friends who are classed as a gang of greasers that are in a rivalry with the Soc's。 Ponyboy, The main character and narrator of the story goes from an innocent and smart kid who kept his grades and had good behavior to a seemingly hardened greaser after the death of his closest and best friend。 The book shows what loss can do to a persons mental health and how it affects the person in the long run。 Johnny, Ponyboys bestfriend shows the reader how people who have gone through mental trauma feel and act。 Dally shows the reader that no matter how tough or violent you are, you still have human emotions and reactions。 。。。more

I can't believe I'd never read this book! I'm amazed it was written by a teenager, and though it's very sad, it was fun to read the book that essentially launched the YA genre。 I can't believe I'd never read this book! One of my favorite stories by one of my favorite authors。 Both the novel and film are delightful and emotional。 I reread The Outsiders and S。E。 Hinton's other works numerous times as a youth and I still own my copies。 I'm not saying they're perfectly written by all literary standards but I don't believe most works are。 What's mostly important is how a story touches readers。 I count this as a major influence in my career as a writer, even though I don't follow her style, she's certainly helped me One of my favorite stories by one of my favorite authors。 Both the novel and film are delightful and emotional。 I reread The Outsiders and S。E。 Hinton's other works numerous times as a youth and I still own my copies。 I'm not saying they're perfectly written by all literary standards but I don't believe most works are。 What's mostly important is how a story touches readers。 I count this as a major influence in my career as a writer, even though I don't follow her style, she's certainly helped me to find my own voice and put pen to paper。 。。。more

。。。more
